All coaches, officials and volunteers of the Club must: consider the well-being and safety of participants before the development of performance; develop an appropriate working relationship with performers, based on mutual trust and respect; make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part; promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play); be professional and consistently display the highest standards of behaviour and appearance; follow all guidelines laid down by the national governing body and the club; never exert undue influence over performers for personal benefit or reward; never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibitive substance; not spend time alone with children out of sight or earshot of other adults; not meet with children outside organised club activities, unless it is with the full knowledge and consent of the childs parents/guardians and the Club; avoid unnecessary physical contact with children; try to avoid being alone in the car with children when giving lifts, if possible, pick-ups and drop-offs should be arranged with at least two children; never swear or use or respond to sexual innuendo; not make sexually suggestive comments about, or to a child, even in fun; not appear to favour or show interest in one child more than another; never be over critical or use language or actions which may cause a child to lose self-esteem; be aware of situations and not engage in any behaviour which can be misconstrued or manipulated by others; not allow children to use foul language unchallenged; not let allegations a child makes go without being addressed and recorded; refer any suspicions or allegations about abuse to the relevant person and not try to investigate these themselves; not, at any time, discuss an allegation or suspicion with another person other than a Child Welfare Officer, Social Worker or Police Officer; never keep suspicions of abuse by a colleague to themselves.
